Role and Responsibilities

The role is a part of The Babyshop Group’s Buying department. The Employee will head up the CSR and sustainability Categories and Team. The Employee will be a part of the Buying Leadership Team.
In this role you will get the opportunity to have an impact on the sustainability vision for the buying department and see the results of your work first-hand. You will work in a fast paced environment leading the CSR and sustainability team towards the company goals. The candidate will report to the Head of Buying and collaborate with our Chief Innovation & Sustainability Manager. The role will support the whole buying department, including both the groups proprietary brands and external brands, and manage one employee

Core Responsibilities:

• Responsible for implementing the sustainability strategy across the buying department and for the group’s suppliers and factories
• Deliver sustainability compliance across due diligence, onboarding, monitoring and reporting of suppliers
• Set and follow-up on the sustainability and quality targets/KPIs for the buying department. Responsible for the buying departments annual sustainability reporting
• Hold seminars with the aim to increase the knowledge in sustainability for employees at Babyshop group as well as for external stakeholders
• Be a support in product development across all buying categories, in areas concerning sustainability and quality. Support buyers across all categories (Home, baby, fashion, and toys) in quality and risk assessments
• Manage product certification processes such as FSC, GOTS and GRS
• Ensure supplier compliance to the group’s guidelines and code of conduct. Manage physical and chemical law compliance, safety, and quality for both textiles and products for an online global market. Keep the buying department updated on global safety standards revolving around BSG's product groups and European legislation. Key contact with testing institutions.

Requirements:

The person we are looking for is strongly goal oriented, structured and thorough in their work. It is also of high importance that the person has clear and strong communication skills where they are able to build and maintain relationships with key factories and suppliers. You have a passion for sustainability and the mission of driving the low-carbon transition forward. You enjoy working cross-functionally and dynamically across the organization in a flexible way. The role also requires that you are open to international travel

• A successful applicant would also have the following requirements
• 3+ years experience in the CSR/quality/ sustainability field, preferably within the supply chain of textiles or other parts of retail
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Experience of working with EU product legislation, chemical legislation (REACH) and standardized testing of CE-marked products such as toys (EN 71)
• Preferably have experience from working with 3rd party certification processes such as GOTS, GRS and FSC
• Experience from working to lower and measure GHG emissions within the supply chain
• Experience of communicating sustainability goals and strategies to suppliers and other stakeholders
• Experience in development of processes, strategies, systems and reporting
• High work ethic, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong project management skills
