Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions is a business area segment with around 600 employees worldwide, incorporating Sandvik’s Additive Manufacturing, Metrology and Design & Planning Automation divisions. We develop offers to help customers become even more productive and sustainable by providing seamless software and additive solutions from component design to quality verification. Our ambition is to develop and acquire companies that complement our strong machining solutions to be able to expand, strengthen and find new business opportunities to grow our total business portfolio. We work in a fast paced, software technology and business driven environment. Our aim is to become world leaders within our segment.
Now we’re looking for an entrepreneurial, forward thinking leader to join our division Design & Planning Automation as CTO / Head of Product & Technology. Someone who is driven by further developing and exploring new business opportunities enabled by digitalization, has experience from supporting and guiding new businesses and who shares our vision of setting the industry standard by advanced technology.
This is an opportunity to set the foundations for product and technology, with a clear vision and strategy to meet the targets for the growth and development of new products. Working closely with management, you’ll drive and identify the correct activities and products to invest in and develop under this area. Welcome to a position where you focus on areas such as Innovation Lab, IT Security and R&D Architecture.
You report directly to President of Design & Planning Automation and are a valued member of the division’s management team. The location is preferably at our new office site in Stockholm – a place for mixing tech innovation with the core of machining. International travel is included in your job.
Your mission
This is the job where you build the correct capabilities and resources to meet the needs of new products that are developed and support the transition for their long-term sustainability. You drive the development with customer and end-user focus, and balance the growth and investment, with controlling the cost and creating transparency, ownership and accountability for each product and its development. You identify driving forces in the market, promote our innovative offer and build capabilities for capturing current and future business opportunities to enhance our offering. You incorporate company procedures and policies in operations of business units, monitor and review project activities and ensure its completion within scheduled time and budget. Other important parts of your job are to manage business activities with focus on financial and strategic growth of organizations, and to evaluate area and product development and performance. You also recommend new strategies for performance and product improvements, resolve business issues and guarantee that all escalated issues are closed.
Being a leader, you ensure that your team acts in compliance with company policies and procedures. You oversee staffing adjustments, identify areas of improvements and develop and enforce best practices for operational efficiency. A culture of collaboration, agility and engagement is truly important to us, and you actively interact with necessary stakeholders, as well as with internal and external partners, to ensure alignment, drive development and achieve results. Equally important aspects on your agenda are empowering our work with diversity and inclusion and making sure we take our responsibility and conduct business in a sustainable manner.
Your character
We’re looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record of driving businesses with a digital agenda – including a profit and loss responsibility - and who combines this with solid understanding of how a software company works and what makes a product successful in the manufacturing industry. You know the benefits of acting in an ecosystem, are commercially skilled and experienced in strategy development and implementation, as well as in change management. You’re up for the challenge to introduce digital solutions into our industrial setting and know how to transform a strategic vision into a strong execution plan – and then deliver on the same! It is possible that you have an entrepreneurial background combined with the experience from being part of a large corporate environment. Naturally, you have a history of successfully leading teams and managing stakeholders at all levels. A relevant business degree or equivalent work experience is also expected.
You’re characterized by an open mind and your passion for driving success. Business acumen and thoroughness is in your nature, and you use your analytical skills and strategic mind to quickly get an overall view that enables you to seize opportunities and to identify when you need to walk the extra mile to reach the target. You thrive when given the opportunity to promote development and growth, and you confidently lead us in finding new business opportunities and initiating change activities. Collaboration and stakeholder management are top priorities for you, and your agile, responsive and inspiring approach and your commitment to the mission creates engagement across our business. On top of this, you have a well-developed ethical compass and are a truly communicative leader who shows genuine engagement – qualities that inspire people around you and always leave a positive impact!
We operate worldwide, and this calls for an open mind and cultural awareness, as well as excellent communication skills in English.
