Curator/Senior Advisor/Scientist plant section

NordGen is seeking a curator/senior advisor/scientist for NordGen plants

NordGen is seeking a person with higher academic qualifications (equivalent to MSc or PhD) and broad experience of working with plant genetic resources. Work experiences from genebank, the public seed control, quality systems and / or scientific institutions is appreciated.

Knowledge of one of the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish) and English is required.

NordGen offers an interesting position with varied and challenging work in the conservation and sustainable management of plant genetic resources in the Nordic countries and in the international arena.

Main responsibilities:

Curator for all seed propagated plant species. Answering and handling seed requests from plant breeders, researchers, individuals, museums and other users. This includes helping the client in finding and selecting suitable materials from the collections and management of the legal documents, Material Transfer Agreements and the Standard Material Transfer Agreements.
To have a comprehensive insight and knowledge of all the material contained in NordGens seed collections.
To have knowledge about the status of material, the accessibility of seed for conservation and distribution, and to achieve this, ensure close planning and cooperation with NordGens seed technicians and plant experts.
Continually develop and be responsible for the varieties of historical interest and seed material offered to the general public and to promote awareness and knowledge of plant genetic resources to the public.
Together with the IT department ensure that NordGen's on-line ordering system is kept functioning and updated.
The curator, in conjunction with plant expert, shall ensure that documentation on material in NordGens seed collections is kept updated.
Assist the plant expert responsible for the Cereal group.

The post is located in Alnarp. The curator will report directly to NordGen?s director.
