Data Analyst

Data Analyst

Arbetsbeskrivning

About the team

You will be working in the Data Management & Analytics team, who are responsible for providing a strong, central data and analytics “centre of excellence” to the entire Bluestep organisation. The team consists of a mix of data engineers, data analysts, and risk modellers.

About the role

The key responsibility of this role is to work very closely with key business stakeholders across the full business spectrum to identify the areas where they need analytics to deliver insights and steer their business. Based on this, you will develop and deliver “data products” to these stakeholders.

You will be expected to manage the end-to-end process of gathering requirements to developing and delivering data products and insights. This will involve a mix of ad-hoc analytical work, together with more structured and automated solutions where relevant.

As this is a very mature and “self-driving” team, you are expected to exhibit a high degree of self-sufficiency and self motivation. This is not a “micro-managed” culture, instead we give employees the freedom to be largely self-managing - but with this also comes the need for the responsibility that goes with this!

Who are you?

You will have academic degree in a technical or quantitative subject and will have at least 3-5 years of real, “hands-on” experience working as a data analyst, delivering high-value data products and insights to businesspeople. To be able to do this, you will need to be both analytical, as well as solution orientated.

As you are a bridge between data & technology and insight, you will need to be a very good communicator, comfortable talking to a wide range of people across the organisation; from senior business leaders to subject matter experts and data engineers.

You will have a natural curiosity about the business side and open to exploring “new ways of doing things” and driving change to help the organisation become more “data-driven”. As you will have a high level of dependency on other team members (e.g. data engineers), you will also have to be a good team player.

Functional Skills:

- 3-5 years experience of working as a data analyst
- Experience of working with Agile methodologies (scrum or Kanban, JIRA or Azure DevOps or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work closely with different business areas
- Good team player - able to converse easily with data engineers, other data analysts, senior business leaders and subject matter experts
- Experience from financial services or business control is a nice to have

Technical Skills

- Must have: strong SQL skills
- Must have: strong skills in modern data analysis/visualisation tools (preferably Power BI)
- Must have: solid skills in Excel
- Should have: solid understanding of dimensional (star-schema) data models
- Should have: familiarity of working with OLAP cubes, preferably SQL Analysis Services Tabular Model
- Nice to have: good understanding of the data engineering discipline
- Nice to have: experience with advanced analytics techniques and tools (e.g. Python, SAS, R etc)
