Nasdaq is currently undergoing a major change, in how we manage and use our trading and clearing related data. We are developing our data landscape, creating new platforms and finding better ways to support our business units, as well as external stakeholders, with data and business insight.
We are looking for a Data Analyst to strengthen the data management of the Nordic Economic & Statistics Research team.

With this position, we offer you the opportunity to be part of the data management and analysis hub of European Markets Services. The team is responsible for the data landscape, as well as for performing advanced data queries and reporting. Through ensuring prudent data management, good governance and continuous development, the team ensure the data is accessible, correct and that the data models are up to date as well as fit for purpose. The data is used by Nasdaq business units and corporate functions through BI-tools and reporting that the team designs and maintains. Using our data, programming and market expertise, team members also support stakeholders with ad hoc data requests and reports.
The team’s work is often cross functional, and this position will have a focus of supporting the regulatory reporting team with ad hoc requests, data quality and improvements to the BI and reporting solutions.
You will join Nasdaq at an interesting time, during a large project to migrate our technical platform to a cloud environment. You will play a key role in establishing the future processes through your own work, and your contribution will shape the way Nasdaq manages its trading and clearing data.
Your role and responsibilities
Your responsibilities will be to:
Manage, develop and maintain our data landscape particularly in the area of regulatory reporting.
Together with Nasdaq’s Regulatory Reporting team and other stakeholders you will identify data needs and detail actionable requirements to continuously improve the quality and capabilities of Nasdaq’s data management and reporting. Implementation of the requirements might involve developers in Global Technology, or be done by you or data engineers in your team, depending on the impacted systems.
Contribute to ad-hoc analysis and data requests from authorities. You contribute both by ensuring value adding Business Intelligence that can be utilized for this purpose, as well as by complementing Nasdaq’s BI and reporting capabilities with your strong skills in querying and data processing.
Build a solid understanding of the trading data and our markets, and collaborate with analysts, regulatory reporting, product developers and data engineers.
Analyze data and create advanced queries to support our stakeholders independently, and as part of a team
Ensure high data quality by performing reconciliation, testing and automated data controls.
By building trust in the data and good stakeholder management, you will support the organization to transition to the new cloud environment.
We expect you to have
A degree in relevant field, such as engineering mathematics, engineering physics or data engineering
Several years of experience working with scripting and reporting
Very good skills in SQL
Expertise in data management, quality assurance and testing
Very good knowledge on how to structure, query and optimize large datasets
A solid understanding of data models and ETL/ELT procedures
Experience working in governed production environments, e.g. different development frameworks, version control tools and documentation
Good communication skills in English, and ability to explain complex and technical concepts in a simple and meaningful way to non-technical stakeholders
It would be great if you have
Experience from a trading environment, working with trade, order or other market data
Experience within regulatory reporting or in projects related to EU financial regulations and directives (example EMIR or MiFID II)
A good understanding of financial instruments, such as cash equity products (shares, ETFs etc) or derivatives
Experience of working with large data sets in AWS and Amazon Redshift
Experience with cloud service providers and micro services
Experience with Business Intelligence tools, preferably Tableau, SAP Business Objects
Experience with programming languages Python, R and C#
