The Central Data Team at Mentimeter builds data products and platforms that influence the future path of the company. Here, you’ll be working on a vast data ecosystem that serves all of the departments (Product, Marketing, Sales and Finance) with both data as well as infrastructure. You will have a direct impact on the future of Mentimeter's business and product decisions.
As a Data & Analytics Engineering Lead, you will be involved in building data platforms at scale to tackle business and technical use cases, leading exciting roadmap items and work-streams along the way. We use Heroku and AWS with technologies such as Postgres, Redshift, ECS, Prefect, Python, TypeScript, dbt etc. In this role, you will actively strive to bring Mentimeter to the next level of data maturity from a technical perspective by working closely with the platform teams and collaborating with the analytical community as well as business stakeholders. We believe you are a leader who wants to formulate and share your data vision, who is not afraid of challenging conversations and sharing of different perspectives while not micromanaging your team - you prefer to give context, set direction and priorities, delegate and empower talented people to thrive and deliver value.
Key responsibilities:
Build and drive overall strategy, methodology, and roadmap for the processes, systems, tools and capabilities required to produce and maintain our core data assets;
Proactive planning of Mentimeter’s data engineering and analytics infrastructure capabilities together with other involved leads and colleagues within and outside of the Data & Insight organization;
Operational leadership of the design, development, evaluation, deployment, documentation, education and reporting of our BI/analytics systems;
Design and implementation of a large scale data ecosystem for all stakeholders and developing best practices, including but not limited to, ensuring we have the (data) tech stack that enables modern user attribution, user journey mapping, CRM, segmentation/customization etc;
Operate through a collaborative approach, working closely with other tech and platform teams to evaluate and modify tools, systems, architecture that would enhance the security, availability and performance of our BI/analytics platform(s);
Architectural choices that enable systems, tools and capabilities together with your team, VP Data & Insights, CTO, the platform teams etc;
Identify needs and ensure that necessary decision support documentation for larger projects are created;
Modern daily management, recruitment and resourcing for Mentimeter’s Data & Analytics Engineering team;
Create a psychologically safe space where the team feels they can ask questions and voice their concerns.
We believe you have:
A numerate degree;
Experience from professional software engineering and programming (Python, SQL, Java, Scala) from conception to implementation to maintenance in a scale-up tech company/environment;
Architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scalability, quality) of complex systems over significant periods of time;
Comfortable communicating with a diverse set of technical and business stakeholders (customers, product managers, C-level management) in English, especially written (daily work is carried out in English and the Mentimeter team currently boasts 40+ different nationalities with over 200 employees);
A track record of (formally or informally) leading/coaching/influencing data and analytics engineering teams at product-oriented companies/environments;
Desire to grow as a leader with willingness and passion to build a scalable organization and attract, hire, manage, grow, develop talented data engineering professionals.
It is beneficial if you have:
Data Engineering team management experience;
Wide knowledge of machine learning with a foundation in mathematical or statistical methods;
Professional experience working in an agile environment;
Experience from attracting, finding and growing talented professionals.
This role will have its base in our HQ in Stockholm and is an onsite/hybrid role.
