Insight & Analytics at Blocket

Our mission is to turn vast amounts of data into actionable and inspiring insights and to evangelize a deeper understanding of marketplace user behaviour. We strive to make Blocket more data driven by facilitating data availability/accessibility process and the insights generation processes to inspire where we are going, follow up how we are doing and inform our decision making. You will get a chance to work with a range of products like Blocket, bytbil.com, Blocket Jobb and Stepstones webs and apps.

What you’ll do

We are a coherent and multi skilled team (10 people) consisting of Data Engineers, Data Analysts and BI Developers. We all share a common passion for data and we get stuff done by tight collaboration and transparency.

- Develop, scale and evolve our data utilization
- Make sure we accurately source and engineer data ready for consumption
- Be a part of transitioning Blocket to the next level as a data driven marketplace
- Be an active contributor to increasing the use of data for product innovation and development
- Take an active part in evangelizing a data driven mindset within Blocket

Some of the technologies we use: SQL, Python, Exasol, Databricks, AWS cloud, Airflow, Kafka, Docker, Tableau, Google Analytics, Data Studio, Firebase

Who you are

We believe you are a data-enthusiast who knows your way around building infrastructure and pipelines for supplying data. You enjoy close collaboration with both your team and other stakeholders across the organisation. But above all, a passion for data (both big and small), and being curious is something we highly value!

- Good understanding of the ETL process
- Hands-on experience working with Python, preferably oriented towards data processing with tools like Airflow
- Experience from working with streamed data using Kafka for data consumption purposes
- Enjoy collaborating with people!

And bonus points if you have skills in:

- DWH architecture or data modeling
- Engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Spark infrastructure and AWS cloud environment

The Blocket journey began in Skåne 1996 - since then the concept of Blocket has been exported to over 40 other countries. Today, Blocket, which is owned by the media group Schibsted, is Sweden’s largest online marketplace. There are approximately 600 000 items, vehicles, jobs and housing being advertised and discovered by its 5 million visitors every week. The value for all advertisements in 2018 amounted to SEK 714 billion - equal to 15 percent of Sweden’s GDP. Thanks to second-hand trading at Blocket, 0.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases can be avoided every year. The output being equivalent to if Stockholm’s city roads stood empty for about a year. Blocket has approximately 240 colleagues and the office is located in central Stockholm.
