In this position as the Data Engineer, you will be a part of an agile-driven analytics backend team, ensures accurate, efficient data ingestion and transformation. Specializing in tools like Snowflake, dbt, Matillion and more, the role supports rapid iterative development and responsiveness to stakeholder feedback as well as continuous improvement of the platform
In this role you will report to IT Director Data & Analytics.

Your key responsibilities are:
1. Data Ingestion
Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data ingestion pipelines within sprint timelines.
Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate data intake from various sources into Snowflake or similar platforms.

2. Data Transformation
Utilize tools like dbt, Matillion, etc., to transform raw data into analytics-ready formats while ensuring data integrity and optimizing for query performance.
Iteratively refine transformation processes based on feedback from analytics users and changing data contexts.

3. Optimization and Performance Tuning
Work in tandem with the analytics teams within sprint cycles to refine data models for optimal performance.
Proactively monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks or errors to maintain team velocity.

4. Collaboration and Communication
Act as a core team member in sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, ensuring data tasks are well-defined and prioritized.
Engage with other scrum teams, supporting third party vendors or external data sources as needed to ensure cross-team alignment and seamless integrations.

5. Documentation and Best Practices
Document all processes, transformations, and decision points to ensure transparency and repeatability within and across sprints.
Champion best practices in data engineering within the agile framework, sharing knowledge and refining processes based on team feedback.

6. Continuous Learning:
Stay current with the latest in data engineering trends, tools, and technologies.
Recommend and prototype new solutions within the agile framework to continually enhance the team's capabilities.



What you’ll need:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in data engineering with hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Matillion or similar.
Agile/Scrum: Demonstrated experience working within an agile/scrum framework. Scrum certification (e.g., CSD, CSM) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work in fast-paced, iterative development environments.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think on the fly and address challenges as they arise within sprint cycles
Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of modern data engineering tools and practices
Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data issues efficiently.
Agile Mindset: Understanding and embracing agile methodologies, with a focus on adaptability and collaboration.
Communication: Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, as well as managing outside vendors and consultants in a collaborative manner.
Teamwork: A collaborative spirit, ready to work in a close-knit agile team.
