Company Description
IKEA is about making things better. All the way from the factory floors to the homes of the many people. We have a passion for renewing and improving things. This is part of our DNA. But how do we know what’s better or what to improve? How are we able to make the crucial decisions? By unleashing the full potential of data about and around our business. It is about enabling quicker and better decision-making with facts as a base - going from a reactive way of working to a more proactive approach.
The assignment of Business Steering is to secure a balanced view of the total IKEA business performance. This is achieved by developing and maintaining common analytical methods, frameworks, processes, ways of working, standard solutions and tools. Business Steering should act as a strong point of reference as well as a competence center, for all of Range & Supply. It should communicate business performance in a clear and inspiring way throughout the value chain. In the digital branches of Business Steering – the departments of Performance & Follow Up and Advanced Analytics - we provide the data needed to take on these assignments. More specifically the data is used to provide insights in the form of Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI). In fact, in order to be useful for this purpose, data needs to be provided in a highly curated form, putting heavy requirements on how the data is engineered before that it can be consumed. This engineering comprises a vast set of tasks, ranging from integration, extraction and pipelining through transformation and modelling to refinement and presentation of the data.
Business Steering is currently in a phase where we want to strengthen our abilities in and around data engineering. We see that this role is needed across our digital branches; sometimes on assignments flavoured classical ETL development, and sometimes on tasks more associated with advanced analytics. We are therefore now looking for several new co-workers taking on the role of Data Engineer.
