As a Data Engineer, you like solving hard problems with code and working on state-of-the-art technologies. You are a hands-on Data Engineer who can build great data products upon one of the world’s possibly largest and most extensive data sets for Web (IKEA online store) and IKEA App.
You also recognize yourself in some of the following:
• You’re good at designing, developing, and deploying data pipelines using the modern tech stack
• You’ve knowledge of SQL, data modeling, ETL, and nice to have: Python, Go, Rust, or similar
• You like the data mesh paradigm and Data-as-a-Product (DaaP)
• You’re comfortable with data warehousing/data lakehousing with BigQuery or similar
• You’ve experience in cloud platforms e.g. Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud-native architecture design, and cloud computing with Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, or similar
• You’re comfortable with orchestration with Cloud Workflows, Cloud Composer or Apache Airflow
• You’ve knowledge of batch and stream processing with e.g. Cloud Dataflow or Apache Beam and real-time data e.g. Cloud Pub/Sub or Apache Kafka. And curious to learn the ones you don’t know yet!
• You’ve heard of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
• You’ve experience in collaborative software engineering & agile (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, GitOps)
• You’re familiar with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

What you'll be doing day to day
Within the Customer Domain of Data & Analytics, you’ll be a part of the Customer Meeting Points area team that focuses on the Online Data and Tracking pillar both for Web (IKEA online store) and IKEA App. In collaborations mostly with Product and Engineering, you will vibe with our Data-as-a-Product:
This means:
• Write demanding SQL queries and ETL as an integral component of data processing pipelines
• Build, operate, and maintain data platforms and systems, mostly cloud-based, that enable distributed data consumption by cross-functional teams
• Produce the design and drive the implementation of appropriate data models, schemas and their processing and transformation pipelines, whileensuring continuously stable running operations
• Build software that is cost-effective and robust with respect to imperfect data streams and architectural conditions, ensuring a resilient technological foundation for analytics
• Apply and utilise modern software development practices and related technologies, including CI/CD
