Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Do you want to be a driving force in how Scania evolves with data driven insights? Creating shorter feedback loops and democratizing data for our teams developing SW and functions on our vehicles.

We are now looking for experienced engineers that can help us expand our connectivity platform to support source agnostic data onboarding and data sharing for our software teams within R&D.

Scania today have over 600.000 (and counting) vehicles and other products connected online.

Given that 96% of the carbon emissions comes from our products. Enabling and leveraging the data that we collect, to improve our products and help our customers utilise them in a more efficient way, is one important component for reaching our science-based targets.

2025 we are supposed to reduce our CO2 emissions from our operations by 50% and from our products by 20% compared to the 2015 levels. Read more at https://www.scania.com/sbt

What you will do

Today our R&D teams are utilising more and more log- and sensor data in their daily work. Giving a large growth in data volumes, going from TB/Year to magnitudes of TB/Day. Imposing new challenges when it comes to keeping this data accessible and searchable over time.

Addressing these challenges will be the task of a new engineering team where we now are looking for someone to fill the role of team lead. To work with other members representing the various competencies required to provide end-end solutions from large scale data collection to easily accessible API’s and tools.

Collaboration and enabling other teams will be key for this team’s success, so besides technical skills, the team lead is expected to have great communication skills and enjoy the work required to create high-performing cross-functional teams.

Who you are?

You are an experienced engineer that understand the challenges and trade-offs required in working with data collection and data management at scale.

You are curious and enjoy having variation in your work. You have the ability to work exploratory with other software teams and enjoy enabling other teams’ success.

You have a track record of exploring and adopting new technologies within the area of data collection and analytics.

We see that you are a MSc in Computer Science or similar, speak fluent English and that you have proven experience working with agile methodologies. While your technical background cover several of the following areas:


• Backend-, data warehouse- (SQL, Snowflake) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) development
• ELK-stack, Splunk or other LOG-platforms.
• EMR, Glue, Spark, Redshift, Apache airflow, Apache Nifi.

DevOps and the mindset of “you build it, you run it” is widely adopted within the connectivity platform. While enabling a high degree of autonomy, it also puts high demands on you and your future team to build for automation and scalability.
