Arbetsbeskrivning
Veritaz is a fast-growing IT-consultant firm. Our company is made up of insanely bright people from over 4 countries, and we are located in Sweden, UK, US and Pakistan. The voyage has been incredible this far, but it is only the beginning.
Assignment Description:
We are looking for a “Data Platform Engineer” to be a part of the platform team. You will design and maintain the foundation for our data/ml products. Our platform engineers ensure the data/ml product discovery & delivery process is as streamlined as possible. The key objective is to identify and reduce friction along the lifecycle and ensure an outstanding developer experience. We aim to bridge the gap between product, engineering, data and ML.
We are designing a data foundation based on mesh principles that support petabyte scale data processing. We work in an environment where people trust each other and can say "I don't know" without fear or shame. Where every teammate is willing to roll up their sleeves and to step out of their comfort zone in order to help each other. Where people can admit they were wrong, humbleness is rewarded and everyone is committed towards a common goal: to serve others by perfecting their craft and be their best self.
What you'll do:
We are looking for talented engineers who want to build the platform they wish they had. The kind of engineer who is:
• Focused on developer experience (DX)
• Strives for operational excellence
• Performance oriented, the amount of data will not let us do otherwise
• Driven to learn by teaching others
• Experienced enough to know when to add features but mainly, when to remove them. When to push and when to pull.
Ultimately, we are looking for curious people who collectively love to decompose complex problems into manageable ones. We aim to build a sustainable future with sustainable software which means a deep focus on system design and managing complexity. We follow the DevOps principle "You build it, you own it". We are responsible for the smooth operation of the services we develop. This way you will stay close to the developers/users and have a deep understanding of their pain-points and how to relieve them.
Given that we work horizontally across the company, multi-dimensional communication skills are something we value deeply. We also follow the principle "We build together" in order to do so effectively, communication is key. Data is integral to everything we do. Therefore, we expect a certain level of data acumen and any past experience working with the complexities surrounding data is considered useful.
In addition to data acumen, you don't need to strictly have all the following skills but the more the better
• Software Engineering
• System Design
• Proficiency in a language such as golang, python, scala, rust, typescript etc.
• CI/CD toolchain, IaC & GitOps
• DevOps
• Cloud Computing
• Kubernetes & the surrounding cloud native ecosystem
• Cluster computing frameworks such spark, ray, dask
• Distributed training
• ACID transactions
• Table such as Iceberg, delta-lake, and Hudi
• Binary formats such as avro, orc, parquet and protobuf
• Storage systems (databases, object-stores, lustre, etc.)
• Stream processing frameworks & event-driven architecture such as beam, flink, kafka, pulsar, kinesis, storm and knative eventing.
• Security
• Networking
We offer a flexible working environment and we trust that you are more than capable of deciding form where you are the most effective and comfortable (within the boundaries of Sweden). We have offices in Gothenburg, Stockholm, and Lund and some travel is occasionally required.
