Data Platform Operator and System administrator to Scania IT

Scania is currently undergoing an exciting transformation from a traditional truck manufacturer to a provider of complete sustainable transport solutions. IT is a crucial part of this transformation as Scania’s success is depending on flexible and efficient IT solutions that support current and future business requirements.

Within the Data Platform team, we are now looking for an experienced system administrator who together with our platform operators will continue to operate, support and develop our data platform.




The Role:
You will focus on operation and support but also administration of the cluster where our Cloudera/HDP Data Platform is running, covering (but not limited to):


• Data ingestion using opensource product DBImport
• Monitor and operate jobs in Airflow
• Operate and maintain implemented ETL jobs
• Making sure the data platform is kept robust and secure
• Aid in development of the platform and cluster setup
• Continuously challenge and improve our data platform and our ways of working



Your profile

Experienced system administrator and data operator who had responsibility to manage production critical systems. You are meticulous and have an interest in continuous improvements and automation. You are comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and able to navigate at a high rate of change. You are curious and want to learn and understand the business challenges and find (new) ways to support the same. You enjoy working in a team and sharing/gaining knowledge with your team mates.

Wanted Skills and Experience:

A technical person with at least 5 years of experience as data operator/system administrator.

You must have experience of Hadoop: Hive, LLAP, HBase, HDFS, Kafka, Nifi etc.

Good SQL and used to work in a Unix/Linux environment is a must.

BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).


Meritorious Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge on Scania operations and supporting tools, have a good technical network to efficiently navigate possible impediments.

Experience in  seting upp Hortonworks/Cloudera  Big data platforms and monitoring and maintaining the same.

A successful history of manipulating, processing, maintaining and operating large data ingestion flows.

Experience and practice from using agile working methods, DevOps and supporting CI/CD.
