Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What you’ll do
Volvo Cars is on an exciting journey, redefining the automotive experience by providing people the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. We are working to improve the customer experience in automotive through digital technology and by rapidly taking steps towards full electrification, autonomous drive, and shared mobility capabilities. Our high aspirations increasingly require the processing of personal data, which in turn necessitates solid and proactive data protection guidance. For this reason, we are now expanding our global data protection team and are looking for a new Data Protection Specialist.
As one of our Data Protection Specialists you will be an integral member of our global network of data protection experts. As such, you will be an important contributor in our efforts to ensure adherence to applicable legislation and our own high ethical standards for the processing of personal data, while enabling data-driven customer interactions, operations and development of products and services.
You will work in a truly innovative, fast-changing, and international environment. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders by supporting new business initiatives and Volvo Cars’ transformation journey – supporting business colleagues in understanding the importance of incorporating data protection principles into everyday practice. In this role, you will lead data protection implementation activities and provide practical guidance. You will work with data protection assessments and compliance checks/audits as well as support in negotiation of various types of data processing agreements and with mitigation of data protection risks.
Finally, you will support the enhancement of the data protection program, train various stakeholders, and facilitate ongoing awareness initiatives within the business. As a part of our team, we want you to bring your creative ideas on how to make data protection as cool in the eyes of others as it is for us!
You will be based in Volvo Cars’ headquarters in Gothenburg.
What you’ll bring
You are an engaged and forward-thinking individual with a great ability to oversee and operationalize data protection compliance. You have 2-10 years of relevant work experience from implementation of data protection requirements, ideally with relevant professional qualifications such as ECPC-B DPO or CIPP. Hands-on experience working within a digital or research & development environment is desirable, but not required.
Furthermore, you are a collaborator with first class communication and interpersonal skills. As such, you will be able to present complex facts and information in a simple way and with an approach tailored to different audiences.
You are also able to translate data protection policies into actions that deliver business value and drive change. Defining and solving problems that require careful analysis and good judgement is something you excel at and thrive in.
You are eager to learn new things and can maintain a diverse workload. You enjoy working in fast-paced changing environments and with motivated and kind people with various backgrounds and skills.
Finally, you share our values and can see everyone's potential. Your personality and eagerness to collaborate will be welcomed by all of us!
