Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What’s in it for you
The Advanced Analytics & AI organization is tasked with identifying opportunities for the application of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning throughout the company, and then acting on those opportunities. In addition, we develop and operate tools and processes to accelerate and support all teams using data science and machine learning at Volvo Cars.
We are now looking for experienced data scientists to join our team in Gothenburg.
You and your skills
We are looking for data scientists with excellent analytical skills and a good grasp of statistics, mathematical modeling, and machine learning. We expect you to be fluent in Python, and very comfortable with the Python data science stack (pandas, sci-kit learn, NumPy, etc.). Software engineering expertise is a strong plus. Experience using cloud infrastructure is expected, as is working with databases and some flavor of SQL. Experience with machine learning in a production setting is preferred. Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is beneficial. Strong collaboration and communication skills are important.
We currently do not have any entry-level positions but have several openings from 2+ years of experience and beyond.
What you’ll do
You’ll apply data science and machine learning to a broad array of product and business opportunities, deepen our understanding of our products and consumers, and build innovative products with data and machine learning.
You are expected to understand complex business challenges, develop hypotheses, integrate internal and external data sets, analyze them and effectively communicate your findings to both a technical and non-technical audience.
You will work in close collaboration with machine learning engineers, software engineers, and product managers in the development of products and services. You will operationalize machine learning workloads using our data science platform, based on Kubeflow.
All roles require significant hands-on development, but senior positions will also entail leading the technical and analytical work of teams of data scientists and engineers.
