You will work in a small machine learning-research team to collaboratively explore, implement, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning (ML)-solutions. Your role will be to bring hands-on data science expertise to our ML research team and help us deliver innovative data-driven solutions to varied problems in the biopharmaceutical industry. As part of a small and multi-disciplinary research-oriented team, you are a flexible and independent minded person who is comfortable with taking own initiatives.
In this role you can work from our office in Umeå or possibly at another Sartorius location or be homebased.
What you will accomplish together with us:
Collaborative exploration with research scientist-colleagues to develop ML-solutions, including but not limited to exploring large-scale datasets, implementing new ML-algorithms, training and evaluating ML models, visualizing, and presenting results to project stakeholders.
Building prototypes and conducting experiments using state-of-the-art deep learning and computer vision
Design and execute effective and efficient technical and analytical experiments
Contributing with data science-best practices for developing performant and reliable machine learning-solutions
Serve as point of contact during technical handover to relevant business units
What will convince us:
BSc or higher in computer science, machine learning, engineering physics or similar field
3+ years hands-on data science experience
Programming knowledge in Python is required, including knowledge of common data science tools such as Numpy, pandas and matplotlib, as well as version control using Git.
Experience in deep learning is required, including programming frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow
Experience in working with image data is required. Experience with microscopic images is seen as a merit.
Experience in either machine learning management systems such as Azure ML, machine learning workflow-engines such as MLFlow/Airflow/Metaflow, or data storage, databases, and structure for large data volumes, is seen as a merit.
Ability to communicate results to stakeholders in a pedagogical manner is preferred.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal communication skills.
