Data Scientist

Qapital is looking for a Data Scientist to join the Qrew. This is a chance to work on a product that has already helped users save nearly $3 billion towards their financial goals! You’ll join the data team during an important upscaling phase, and in this role, collaborate with other team members as well as our cross-functional development teams. As a Data Scientist at Qapital, you get the best of both worlds - you get to work with big and complex data, but in the quick and agile environment of a startup!



In this role you will

- Work closely with the business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making

- Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers or the wider organization

- Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems

- Test data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on a project

- Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results

- Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods

- Conduct research from which you'll develop prototypes and proof of concepts

And in terms of professional experience, we value:

- Experience in a hands-on Data Scientist role

- Building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms

- Present actionable business recommendations based on insights and design impactful visualizations to track and highlight progress

- Experience in designing control-test experiments and presenting results to non-technical audiences, especially in an online commercial setting

- Have used SQL on a regular basis



Our data tech stack is currently:

- AWS services: Redshift, Sagemaker, Glue, Kinesis, EMR

- Other tools: dbt, Spark, Looker

- Languages: python, r





So hands-on experience and/or knowledge of competing technologies would be beneficial.
