About this opportunity:
Within the GAIA, there is a unit for AI infrastructure and platform, with a team based in Sweden. GAIA Infrastructure is developing AI/ML components and systems, partly based on third party components and open source, to be integrated into Ericsson product and services. These components are enabling the entire life-cycle management of AI/ML, ensuring security, performance, scalability, and reliability.

Ericsson Language Intelligence (ELI) Platform unit is a dynamic team dedicated to leveraging the potential of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to revolutionize the telecommunications sector. ELI's focus is on developing telecom domain-specific language models and benchmark datasets tailored for Ericsson's operational landscape. By strategically aligning these model services with various applications, ELI aims to enhance in-domain performance, streamline operational efficiency, and address critical factors such as accuracy, security, privacy, intellectual property rights, and reliability. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about telecom domain adaptation of LLM and generative AI. If you are excited about shaping the future of telecommunications through cutting-edge language models, we invite you to join us in this transformative journey.

We are now looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our GAIA ELI Platform in Stockholm, reporting to Head of GAIA ELI Platform research and development team. As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our generative AI platform, leveraging your expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and telecom domain expertise to improve our models and deliver cutting-edge solutions to our internal and external customers.

What you will do:
- Design and implement natural language processing algorithms and machine learning models to develop and optimize language models for the ELI platform.
- Perform data preprocessing, cleaning, and feature engineering to prepare large volumes of text data for training and inference.
- Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and iterate on model architecture and hyperparameters to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Design and implement scalable, efficient systems for deploying and serving language models via web services or APIs.
- Understanding telecom domain and use cases

The skills you bring:
- Proven experience in developing and deploying language models, such as transformer-based architectures (e.g., BERT, GPT, etc.).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with experience in data manipulation, model training, and software development.
- Strong understanding of NLP techniques, including text preprocessing, tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition, and sentiment analysis.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and proficiency in model evaluation and optimization.
- Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including data preprocessing, cleaning, and feature engineering for text data. In addition, it is beneficial that you have one or many of the following experiences:
- Experience working with stakeholders and internal customers across a broad product and services portfolio, including building communities and alignment, requirement, and roadmap definitions
- Experiences in Agile / Scrum development
- Background with open-source software ecosystems and impacts on product strategy
