Data Scientist

Arbetsbeskrivning

Mentimeter is one of the fastest growing companies in Sweden (DI Gasell 2018). One of the reasons we are so successful is our constant improvement on being data-driven in Product, Marketing and Sales. Leveraging data is key to understanding our users and to offer them the best Mentimeter experience possible, we are expanding our Data Analytics team with a Data Scientist.
In this role you will work hands-on with multiple teams and stakeholders to enable and promote more accurate, data-driven decisions and to provide clarity on how each team is contributing. Together with us you will study user behaviour, evaluate strategic initiatives and experiment with new features, whether it be a smarter sales outbound process or increasing user participation through marketing campaigns.
We work in small, independent, self-organizing teams. With a large interest across the whole organisation to become more data-driven, we value someone who is in love with solving problems, not with specific solutions or methods, and who is incredibly collaborative. Moreover, we are looking for someone who has a willingness to engage and collaborate on best practices for data use within the company.
What you'll do:
Work closely with cross-functional teams who are passionate about Mentimeter’s user experience on an individual user basis as well as an enterprise customer
Perform analyses to extract actionable insights on user behaviour that will help drive business decisions
Support in structuring KPI frameworks and measurable objectives that help guide and measure the performance of Mentimeter’s strategy
Foster data-driven decision making across the organisation
Be an important part of a growing analytics team to define standards and good practices

Skills/Mindset:
Clear and effective communication skills
A strong interest and curiosity in how data can be used to explain users and behaviors
Analytical mindset and a hands-on approach to challenges
Be results driven, open, flexible and always have focus on the business value for Mentimeter
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies

Professional experience:
Previous work experience in a similar Data Scientist role and ideally, a degree in a quantitative discipline
Building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms
Present actionable business recommendations based on insights and design impactful visualisations to track and highlight progress
Have used SQL on a regular basis
Experience with data mining, clustering, segmentation and machine learning
Familiarity with software development practices such as version control and CI/CD

Bonus:
You are capable of tackling vague problems and thrive when working on a team which has autonomy in their day-to-day decisions
Have experience of cloud-based data structures and tools in, for example, Amazon Web Services or Azure
Have an understanding of modern web architectures, distributed systems, data processing and storage solutions
Experience working in SaaS companies

Super extra bonus:
Hands-on experience with Postgres, AWS Redshift, Metabase, Mixpanel, Heroku, Javascript and React

Not required:
You don’t have to know Swedish (we are an English-first organisation, daily work is carried out in English and the Mentimeter team currently boasts over 20 different nationalities!)
PhD in deep learning
