Arbetsbeskrivning
Scania is now transforming from being a supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
What we believe in
We believe that the most valuable asset is our people. We value Scania's strong and supportive working culture where each individual is seen, respected, and trusted. And that Scania’s organizational environment enables you to develop and grow professionally and personally in the best possible way.
We are looking for a curious data scientist to help us drive the development of new data initiatives in our projects within electrification, autonomy, and connectivity.
Do you want to be a part of this journey?
What you will do
Today our R&D teams are utilizing more and more log- and sensor data in their daily work. Our team’s business problem is to integrate this data into Scania’s development workflow, to enable data-driven development. This integration is end-to-end, i.e., from deciding and testing new functionalities to evaluating performance and investigating deviations in our rolling fleet. Today this team consists of eight data engineers, and you will be the data scientist that helps them understand the internal customer-specific use cases.
Our team is a front-runner on enabling data-driven development at Scania and you can be a key player in forming that journey by:
• Helping internal customers (mechanical engineers, software developers, system owners, etc.) leveraging their data by supporting them in finding tools, methods, and models suitable for their specific use case.
• Help the data engineering team to understand the necessary infrastructure for these use cases. This can for example be a specific microservice for feature engineering.
• Together with the product owner find more general use cases and continue refining and improving the product.
• Giving support for cross-referenced data contextualization and automated analytics.
• Enabling shorter feedback loops for product- and embedded SW development.
Who you are
Technical curiosity is important, and you enjoy sharing newfound knowledge with team members and other peers. You have a customer-first mindset and you can adjust your communication to the knowledge level of your customer.
With a creative approach to problem-solving, you can find solutions to existing use cases and can identify new use cases without relying on a pre-defined problem.
You see the benefits of working with a data-driven approach and encourage other people to realize the possibilities of this way of working.
Relevant background
• MSc or higher in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or similar.
• Experience in an analytic role.
• Advanced knowledge of at least one relevant programming language (e.g. Python, Matlab, Julia).
• Experience working in a consultancy role translating customer needs to analytical problems, either in-house or as a consultant.
• Fluent in English.
Experience of working with
• automotive industry
• analyzing millisecond time-resolved data or other large-scale tabular data sources
• state-of-the-art methods and models for tabular data e.g., Xgboost, RandomForest, frequentist, and Bayesian statistical methods
• software developing
