Who we are
The purpose, for Volvo Cars Service Business, is to enable a hassle-free consumer experience and drive loyalty by delivering a personal, sustainable and safe service experience through high quality and cost-efficient premium service operations. The automotive industry is currently under-going a significant transformation driven by changing consumer behaviours, technology shifts and digitalization. Within the department Service Business & Technology, we are applying our data driven strategy to prepare for direct consumer solutions and to move from reactive to proactive customer interactions.
Scope
The team; Data Driven Service Business Development is responsible for developing solutions for proactive customer interactions aiming to; increase service penetration & customer loyalty and improve workshop effectiveness & efficiency. We are developing digital solutions by predicting the car´s needs based on consumer- and vehicle-data.
We are also focusing on improving workshop effectiveness and efficiency based on data analytics.
What you will do
As a Data Scientist, you will be part of the team Data Driven Service Business Development. You will work with development of business backend system for data driven decision of predictive capabilities.
You will build innovative products for predictive capabilities, with data and machine learning, and you will support our advanced analytics needs, inform business strategy through data-driven insights. You are expected to understand complex business challenges, develop hypotheses, integrate internal and external data sets, analyse them and effectively communicate your findings. You will work in close collaboration with data engineers, data scientists, product- and business- owners, developers and architects in the development of products and platforms.
You and your skills
We see that you have at least a Master of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering Physics or similar. You are proficiency in programming using data scientist toolkits, such as R, Python, Scala and SAS, and in using query languages such as SQL. You have excellent skills in analysing, structuring, implementing and store large data sets. You also have knowledge in statistics, optimization and algorithms.
Experience applying various machine learning techniques and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance is required. If you have prior documented working experience with data science and data analysis is considered beneficial as well as basic knowledge in development of simulation environments or test methods.
We are searching for a highly motivated, creative and curious person, with a strong analytical, scientific and strategic mind-set, who has several years of experience in working with large data set.

As a person you are self-driven, independent and able to take initiatives on your own, you see the overall picture and logical patterns, but are also able to go into a detailed analysis of things. You should have the ability to present your work and findings to an audience with different level of knowledge.
