At Epidemic Sound we are reinventing the music industry. Our carefully curated catalog, with over 32,000 tracks, is tailored for storytellers, streaming services, and in-store soundtracks. Countless clients around the world, from broadcasters, production companies, DSPs, and YouTubers rely on our tracks to help them tell their stories. Epidemic Sound’s music is heard in hundreds of millions of online videos daily, across millions of playlist streams, and in thousands of in-store locations. Headquartered in Stockholm, we’re spread across offices in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Sydney. We’re growing fast, have lots of fun, and are taking the music industry with us.

We are now looking for an experienced Data Scientist. Actually. You can call yourself Data Analyst, Data Guru, Analytics Enthusiast or Easter Bunny if you like, the thing is: we have data and you are good at data.

How you will make an impact

As a Data Scientist within the Partnerships team, you will be responsible for helping us understand how our music is used across the internet, through our agreements with Epidemic’s partners. You will work with large amounts of data, from a range of different sources, finding patterns and insights to help us identify business opportunities, to take our partnership business to the next level.

You lead and coordinate research initiatives to help build a deep understanding of our core metrics, users, and business areas. You drive improvements in how we work, the tools we use, and how we can improve our data assets to maximize productivity. Furthermore, you facilitate knowledge sharing both within the team and across the analytics community and make sure our insights are democratized and accessible to relevant decision-makers. Also, you support the team and our stakeholders in the experiment strategy and A/B test design.

In this role, you will play a key role in building the research capabilities of a growing team. You will cooperate with analysts embedded in various teams/departments and make sure we have a holistic view of our business areas.

Who you are

You are driven, self-motivated, and good at forming hypotheses and investigating them proactively. You thrive working in a cross-functional team, whilst also working with a range of stakeholders across the company, and collaborating with other data scientists to drive projects and initiatives to deliver business value. We also believe you have a passion for data, tech, and music, love an entrepreneurial start-up vibe.

Other skills we believe you have:

- Experience in a similar data scientist role and a degree in science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline
- Fluency in Python or R for data analysis
- Experience performing analysis with large datasets
- Excellent understanding of SQL
- Good understanding of cloud technologies. We use GCP
- Ability to demonstrate hands-on experience with data mining, clustering, segmentation, and machine learning
- Experience with experimentation and a/b testing
- Good understanding of data engineering practices and data modeling
- Fluency in English
- Merit to those with significant experience from a growing product-focused company
- Merit to those with experience working with data from youtube and social networks
- Merit to those with any experience in the field of digital rights management
