The Engineering Data Hub drives transformation and implementation of Data, Analytics & AI within Volvo Cars Engineering. The department also handles competence growth and collaborations within Data, Analytics & AI. Our department is cross-functional, consisting of Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Software Engineers developing product applications and services with direct or indirect connection to our cars.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Data Scientist to complement our team to extract knowledge and insights from a wide range of data sources and to develop new customer centric Analytics & AI based functions and services, including state of the art AI methodology such as Generative AI.

Location:
The role is a full-time position based in Gothenburg, SE. You are expected to work from the office in average three days per week, but it could increase in the future as we have an office first policy. [Remote working is not an option for this position]

What You'll Do [Tasks]:
As Data Scientist, you will be responsible for turning data into insights using for example machine learning techniques and to design and build AI tools to automate analysis processes. You will be applying an agile mind-set and using the latest analytics tools & methods to understand, predict and bring our data to life using modern visualization techniques. The Data Scientist is concerned with building quantitative models out of data, setting and verifying the assumptions for the models and testing and maintaining models.

Required qualifications:
MSc in statistics, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or other relevant field.
2+ years post grad industry experience
Experience and skilled in machine learning techniques and the design and development of AI tools i.e., Generative AI, etc... to automate analysis processes.
Programming skills in scientific programming for Data Science, e.g., Python
Strong data visualization and presentation skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bonus qualification [Meritorious]:
Experience with data mining tools and algorithms
Experience from advanced engineering – turning methods and ideas to prototypes.
Exposure to different data types and problem domains
Experience from the automotive industry
