Data Scientist within Vehicle Engineering

Who are we?
The team Vehicle Performance and Analytics strive to Close-the-Loop by connecting our product development with actual customer and vehicle monitoring. By use of Data Analytics we identify the needed differentiation of Product Solutions that provide vehicle configurations with well-balanced Performance Steps to our customers. The team has also expertize knowledge in simulation fields of aerodynamics, noise, crash and optimization.

In this position you will be part of an organization dedicated to technology as well as empowering and developing our employees. In the team we have ambitions to both maintain our current deliveries with distinction, while at the same time, step by step close in on our even more ambitious vision of being able to analyze any given vehicle specification for its performance, from early concept evaluations to final verification.
By monitoring our products in operation, combined with sources such as sales statistics, field quality statistics, product structure information, engineering databases and vehicle performance analysis, an analytics driven vehicle and service development is achieved.
We have high expectations to reduce development lead-time and cost, increase uptime and driving innovation. To be successful in this journey data driven development is key.


Responsibilities / Main tasks
We are looking for a data scientist to join our team Vehicle Performance and Analytics. In this role you will support the Team, Department and Vehicle Engineering to take the next steps towards leveraging Expertise and Data into insights and even better products for our customers.


In our team there are possibilities to get involved in a large variety of tasks such as, apply machine learning methods to various problems, make data available for other engineers to enable a data driven decision making, contribute to develop services to our end customers and more.

We expect you to be a person with strong analytical skills and a will to deliver. We see that you as the candidate have good vehicle domain knowledge. Besides this you like coding, scripting and databases. A positive mindset “can do attitude” and team work characterizes your personal profile.
You are holding a MSc. in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, IT or applicable engineering field together with some years of Professional experience
You like to interact with different functions in a large global organization and have good presentation skills
If you have proven skills related to data mining and data preparations this is considered meritorious

You have good knowledge about or are very motivated to learn and use various tools, systems and languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, SPSS Modeler, Power BI, QlikView, R, Auto ETL, MS Azure, Hadoop.
