We are scaling up Waypoint, If’s largest digital investment; a digital platform built from scratch. A common platform for all services and business areas built on modern technology. Waypoint is If’s new digital insurance platform for the future, involving 200 employees working together in 15 cross-functional development teams in the Nordics and Latvia. Every single day, the focus is on finding smarter solutions for us and our customers.
We are currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated Database Developer to work within our Waypoint CoE team.
About the role
As Database developer you will be an important member of an existing CoE-team that manages the infrastructure and support team towards the application teams. You will assist other development teams with architecture, services and knowledge within the database area. You will work closely with the database architect, as well as architects and technical leaders in the other Waypoint teams. Together, you are all part of one of the largest .NET/Azure projects currently running in the Nordics.
More specifically, your day-to-day job will mostly involve the following:
Provide guidance and support to Application Developers within the Database area
Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning
Write and deploy SQL patches
Upgrade and improve application schema and data upgrades
Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements
About the team
You will be an important member of an existing team of 12 competent and committed colleagues who collaborate daily with the mindset of working together to ensure knowledge transfer, high quality and transparency in technical decisions. This team functions as a CoE- support team, with the mission to provide support and assistance to the other development teams in Waypoint.
The team consists of Tech Lead, Technical Architects, DevOps Engineers, Solution Architects, DBA and Operation Engineers. Together you strive to provide hassle free build and deploy infrastructure, and stable, reliant application infrastructure.

You also have:
MS SQL Server experience, preferably T-SQL
Programming experience, preferably C#.NET. Experience from using ORM’s and especially EF (Core and 5.0)
Experience in cloud environments, preferably Azure
Powershell experience
Knowledge around GDPR compliance
Good communication skills in English, both written and oral
In addition to this, we also see that you have experience in administering, managing and tuning large databases, as well as a good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts. We also see that you have a good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
