Arbetsbeskrivning
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Do you want to be a driving force in how Scania evolves with data driven insights? Creating shorter feedback loops and democratizing data for our teams developing SW and functions on our vehicles.
We are now looking for experienced engineers that can help us expand our connectivity platform to support source agnostic data onboarding and data sharing for our software teams within R&D.
Scania today have over 600.000 (and counting) vehicles and other products connected online.
Given that 96% of the carbon emissions comes from our products. Enabling and leveraging the data that we collect, to improve our products and help our customers utilise them in a more efficient way, is one important component for reaching our science-based targets.
2025 we are supposed to reduce our CO2 emissions from our operations by 50% and from our products by 20% compared to the 2015 levels. Read more at https://www.scania.com/sbt
What you will do
Today our R&D teams are utilising more and more log- and sensor data in their daily work. Integrating it through all parts of development from deciding on and testing of new functionality in our test-fleets. To evaluation of performance and investigating deviations on our rolling fleet.
We are now looking for people to join a new engineering team aimed at:
• Meeting demands on more frequent and granular data collection.
• Enabling shorter feedback loops for product- and embedded SW development.
• Manage data growth and increased variance imposed by the increase in virtual sensors and SW functions.
• Ensuring that generated data is accessible and searchable while scaling from ingestion magnitudes of TBs/Year to TBs/Day.
• Giving increased support for cross-referenced data contextualisation and analytics.
With end-end perspective, from vehicle SW to backends and analytics layers, the team will work in tight collaboration with our logging- and product development teams. Continuously addressing new demands and enabling their success.
Your main responsibility will be managing and designing high performance data layers enabling sharing, management and filtering of high-volume datasets. Evaluating and leveraging use cases on our existing data platform as well as understanding the required future expansion of it imposed from the expected growth in data volumes.
Who you are?
You are probably an experienced DBA or Database Engineer who have worked with larger data platforms aimed at supporting a variety of use case types, ranging from analytics and BI to APIs and extensive data processing.
Maybe you have hit a ceiling in the data volumes traditional database products can deliver on and want to explore new solutions and architectures for managing large data sets.
You enforce a structured approach to managing control and traceability on where the data is accessed and by whom. Since we work cloud first. Experience in managing cloud-based and/or hybrid database products is meriting.
You have been in touch with several of the following areas:
• Snowflake, SQL
• Data Modelling
• Data warehouse design
• cloud infrastructure
• database management
• Query optimisation
• ETL Tools
• CI/CD tools
DevOps and the mindset of “you build it, you run it” is widely adopted within the connectivity platform. While enabling a high degree of autonomy, it also puts high demands on you and your future team to build for automation and scalability.
