We are now looking for a Geologist with specialization within data management to join our Exploration Department that has a focus on iron ore deposits. The responsibility for the department is within exploration in our underground mines and open pits and their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as greenfield exploration.
As a Database Geologist you will be expected to independently work with a range of different geological data and in close collaboration with our clients within the exploration projects, both near mine- and field exploration.
Your responsibilities will be to, together with your colleague, manage the geoscience database update workflows and procedures of data capture, validation and analysis of QAQC. Capturing various geological-geoscientific data into the database, ensure data integrity through regular monitoring, maintenance, data validation and application of industry best practices. Documentation and reporting are guided by the reporting standard PERC (2021).
The position also involves training and support for database software, data management practices, error and data upload troubleshooting. Together with the geodata team you manage our database and act as support for the exploration projects.
With the support of senior database geologists you prepare SQL script, stored procedures, data export as well as maintain and develop a validated and updated geoscience database required for geological modelling and resource estimation.
This is a permanent position and you will be based in Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna or Gällivare, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.
You should also have a strong interest in working with continuous improvements and optimizing workflows in order to improve already established routines as well as finding new ways to manage data.
Qualifications
We are looking for a Geologist with a BSc or higher degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining. Experience with managing geological data/database is required.
As a person you should be detail oriented, responsible and with good structural skills. Good collaboration is important for this position. Characteristics like accuracy, high quality and patience naturally fall into the role.
You must be able to express yourself both in written and spoken English. Preferably also Swedish but if not, we want you to be eager to learn.
