Description / Purpose:
Dean of students, together with other members of the school leadership team, strategically develops the school and ensures that SIS maintains the values enshrined in the SIS Mission and Vision, and practices its policies and procedures.
The Dean of Students has a key role to play in the development and oversight of the school’s extracurricular, enrichment, service, learning support and socio-emotional/pastoral programmes. S/he/They is a line manager to the staff working in learning support, health department and social-emotional/pastoral programmes. In cooperation with the school leadership the Dean of Students ensures that student well-being and extra-curricular learning is happening at all school levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for Child Protection policies and training. He/she/They are the designated Child Protection Officer at SIS.
Development and overview of the whole school socio-emotional/pastoral care programme, in close cooperation with the counselors/Principals/Coordinators/Advisory teachers.
Development, organization and recruiting for the school’s current enrichment programme, (including mother tongue programme) and responsible for the future development of SIS enrichment offer (e.g. STEAM programme).
Development and oversight of the school’s extracurricular programme (e.g. after school care, music programme…); spirit week programme (UN day parade…); service programmes; student council, Model UN, the Roots and Shoots Project and the Nepal Project.
Responsibility for the student service awards programme.
Development and implementation of the Service As Action programme.
Support to Principals when significant behavioural management or other student related issues arise.
Acts as a line manager to a number of teaching (e.g. student support) and non-teaching staff (e.g. counselors, nurses) and helps in the new staff recruitment and orientation and with the PDSE process for the learning support staff.
Plays an active role in the wider activities that make up school life such as leading the steering committee for the House System.
Is in charge of planning and implementing the budget in their areas of responsibility.
Serves as liaison between the SLT and the SIS Parent Community (SPC).

At Stockholm International School we are committed to protecting children. Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. Included in the recruitment process will be a local and national police check as well as a mandatory police background check from the last year of employment in every country worked.
