Defense Product Manager Special Vehicles Sweden

In Special Vehicles we are a truly cross functional team with a mix of people from different areas; chassis, cab, electrical & wiring, software, chief project managers and also vehicle and geometrical architects.

The Special Vehicles Development organization dedicated to Volvo Trucks brand. We are responsible to develop low volume solutions and specific customized offers for Volvo Heavy Duty ranges (FH, FM, FMx) also including adaptations Volvo Defense, providing transport solutions for military & civil defense operations.
Our way of working is lean and based on agile principles, we continuously develop and implement innovative ways of working to secure high performance in time to market, quality and reduced development costs for all our products.
A Defense Product Manager at Special Vehicles Development
As a Defense product manager at SVD you take lead in understanding complete vehicle demands and solutions. You together with other team members or experts in the company contribute and sometimes lead the technical solution on complete vehicle level that satisfy the customer needs.
The Defense business is mostly done through Tenders and you will be an important player together with sales responsible persons at Volvo Defense to understand, breakdown and set the project scope. You don’t only listen to the voice of the customer, you rather have a good dialog with the customer to be able to focus on what matters. You can also communicate and gather the cross functional team to embrace your idea.
With broad technical skills you understand on a practical level how different solutions affects the project stakeholders and will appropriately navigate in your social network to involve the expertise needed. You will operate both within the team and being the interface to stakeholders.
You are a person with high engagement and can take a creative idea and put it into practice. You easily take initiatives and are also comfortable to take even complex decisions. As speed in execution is key, you are using your previous experience with confidence to do the right thing at the right time securing the project deliveries.
Required knowledge/experience
We see that you either have engineering experience from Defense applications and the will to learn more about our heavy duty products at Volvo. Or you have a good product knowledge of the Heavy Duty products and have a big interest in learning about the military applications.
Competences required for this role:
Leadership skills – experience from leading positions within technical areas
Experience in truck or military application regarding configuration and specification
Experience from product development in heavy duty automotive industry (or similar)
