What’s in it for you?
In product stream Connected Experience our purpose is to develop and deliver Infotainment, Connectivity and Cloud Platform and world-class digital user experience. We are also responsible for Complete Vehicle Diagnostics system and end-to-end platform for diagnostic monitoring & vehicle data collection.
Our company is moving towards a data driven development and our responsibility to deliver data and diagnostics platform put us in a central position of our strategic focus areas.
We are now looking for a Department Manager for our Vehicle Data and Diagnostics department. In this role you will, together with your teams, be responsible to deliver data collection platform, supporting all applications across the vehicle, as well as the complete vehicle diagnostic system. You will be part of Connected Experience leadership team and will have an important role in our ability to deliver as a Solution.
We are looking for a passionate and courageous Leader that can coach and lead our department together with our Agile Leaders to deliver great products, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvements. You will also interact with many stakeholders across Volvo Cars but also many external companies and organizations in the field of AI and ML.
We use modern tools and agile methods to create business value continuously. We ensure high quality and adaptability in our development and delivery.
What you’ll do
You’ll support the engineers in your department by removing obstacles and helping them to grow. You’ll contribute to agile ways of working, through leadership and close collaboration with Team Managers, Agile and Technical Leaders. You are a person that have adopted a lean agile mind-set, applied a servant leadership, have good communication skills and collaborate well.
The team’s tasks will span all the way from early concepts to rolling out large-scale and high-quality products. You will work with teams across the company, across the globe, across many functions, such as product management, architect teams, business development and with external companies.
You and your skills
We are looking for an experienced software engineering manager, who have previously built and led software engineering teams or department. You have experience in people management, cross-functional collaboration, large-scale software development as well as a strong sense of business. You understand and value the importance of building empowered, high performing teams and have been able to demonstrate your servant leadership skills.
You probably have a degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. We believe you are a great listener, curious and a visible leader. You challenge established ‘truths’ and believe in working through empowerment and recognition.
You have proven ability to move swiftly between managing both the strategic and hands-on work. You have the ability to energize an organization and act as a role model for our culture by showing trust and integrity.
It is also important that you are continuously developing your own skills and guide and coach your department to continuously develop theirs.
