DEPARTMENT PRODUCT OWNER AT ELECTRICAL AND SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE, VOLVO BUSES
We are looking for a Department Product Owner with the leadership ability and ambition to bring out the best in people to join the Electrical and Software Architecture department at Volvo Buses.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Platform Development is a function within Global Bus Technology at Volvo Buses. We are responsible for developing platform solutions within the areas of Electrical & Software Architecture and Chassis & Drivelines.
Volvo Buses is now seeking a Department Product Owner within Electrical & Software Architecture who has the drive and passion to contribute to Volvo Buses profitability and who sees that the key to success is to develop technologies to have products meeting future needs.
You will work closely with the managers in the department, the release train engineer, the team product owners and system owners for this area, coordinating the department backlog within the department as well as towards project managers and other areas within Volvo Buses.
Since we are a smaller company, we all work with broad responsibilities and cross-functionally through the entire company, across many different departments and competence areas. This position will be no different, coordinating yours and your teams work with the rest of the development teams here at buses will be important.
Main activities will be to manage the product area backlog on department level. This includes breakdown of project portfolio to department backlog, prioritize the backlog, balance the backlog with different stakeholders and represent the customer towards the development teams. You will also lead the product owners of the development teams and guide them according to the department priorities. You will also be involved in concept phases guiding us in the right competitive direction for our products.

We have already taken the first steps towards agile ways of working and we performed our first PI planning about a year ago and several more since then. Our department, Electrical and Software Architecture is a function within Global Bus Technology (GBT) at Volvo Buses that is responsible to integrate Volvo group technology into our buses and develop bus unique solutions when needed. We are responsible to secure short and long term quality solutions on the electrical and software systems of the bus. In close cooperation with colleagues at different departments, we are supporting each other in reaching our mission in helping millions of travellers reaching their travel destination. All over the World. Every day.
THIS PROBABLY DEFINES YOU
As you will be leading our product owners, it is highly meriting if you have earlier experience working as a department product owner (in other organisations also referred to as product manager) or experience working according to SAFe, within the automotive sector.
You have several years of experience in leading and participating in teams and development networks, coordinating work across different competences to ensure the end delivery is the best compromise. We think that you have a MSc degree in mechatronics/electrical/software engineering or equivalent, are great at communication and networking, solution focused and eager to learn and work with your own development.
You have deep technical knowledge and experience with development of electrical systems in automotive industry and a good understanding of our stakeholders needs to be able to align our backlog with their needs.
You will also be involved in driving change in ways of working within the department by leading the team product owners.
