Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.This is an opportunity to be a part of a development team, which is focusing on chassis layout and installation of parts and components for autonomous, full electric, and combustion engine trucks. In general, you will join a team that will contribute expertise and knowledge to new development projects where modularity is an important factor. You must thrive in a high-paced environment and help conceive and develop exciting and innovative designs as well as support current products in the field with quality issues. 

Our team

The team includes 12 design engineers and one sub-project manager. It consists of people with a mixture of different work experiences, nationalities, gender, and age. The atmosphere of the team can be described with the following words; inclusion, teamwork, and relaxed attitude. 

Mia Willstrand, the manager of the team, describes that one of her priorities is to secure that the team and the individuals have the prerequisites to perform their work properly. She also thinks is important to have an open working climate to make sure that all people’s views and potentials are considered.

You will be expected to.. 


• Be involved in the conceptual stages of new products, and as part of a cross-functional team create innovative designs and help optimize those components with regards to strength, weight, and cost.
 
• Cooperate with test engineers, production engineers, other design engineers, and styling, taking your conceptual sketches to production-ready parts. The work will also include cooperation with engineers within the other Traton truck brands.
• Discuss and negotiate with suppliers on project plans and manufacturability.


• Create drawings, prepare reports and presentations, and effectively communicate your findings within various forums.


• Benchmark and analyze competitors with regard to chassis components.

Your profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer, who is a good problem-solver, dares to take quality decisions, with a clear communication style, and is willing to take initiative. You have a genuine interest in technology and product development and are willing to take a hands-on approach.

We would also like that..


• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or materials engineering or equivalent.


• You have 5 years or more of previous experience in product development, preferably within the automotive industry.


• You write and speak fluently in English. If you write and speak fluently in Swedish, it is a merit.
