Senior Group Design Leader
Interior Room, Group Trim & Material
The group Trim & Material belongs to the department Interior Room and consists of three teams, responsible for Decorative & Chrome parts, Air vents & Air ducts, CAE and Material, respectively. We are now looking for an engaged Senior Group Design Leader (GDL) to our team working with Decorative & Chrome parts. As GDL, you will be working in the industrialization phase of the project up until production start, implementing the components of the system. The work will be carried out together with dedicated colleagues in a friendly environment. You will coordinate and lead the team to reach the technical objectives and secure the deliveries within the given time and budget. The work will require close contact with other areas within R&D and our suppliers.
You will be reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. In this role you will be given the possibility to improve your leadership skills, coordinating much of the work within the team. You will also be able to deepen your technical knowledge of the system area and are given the chance to build new networks within the company as well with international suppliers.
Main responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the work of the cross functional team, securing project deliveries accordance with the time, technical and cost (TTC) contract.
* Together with the team, develop technical solutions and documentation that describe the systems and components (or review solutions developed by supplier).
* Initiate and assure that corrective actions are carried out when deviations occur.
* Together with the team, set up, manage, and follow up the component development time plans.
* Report the status and forecast for the Product owner and line organization.
* Performing Demo sessions with relevant stakeholder reviewing progress and risks.
* Ordering of test objects, soft tools and bought assignments.
* On site visit at production locations when required.
Required qualifications
* English, both in speech and writing.
* Previous experience as a team/project leader.
* Good knowledge in the processes and systems of Volvo Cars.
* Technical knowledge of the area is meritorious.
* M.Sc or B.Sc in engineering, or equivalent technical training.
Personal qualities
* Self-motivated with a strong delivery orientation.
* High cooperation ability and communication skills.
* Structured and used to summarize and present status reports.
* Ability to prioritize the teams tasks.
* Flexible.
* Personal energy.
