Design Engineer - 2 positions

At Research and Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers from around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. Body structure is a section within R&D and we are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Car Group to fulfill its aggressive targets to be leading in Safety, Vehicle Dynamics and Design. We develop body structures from concept/advanced engineering until the launch of vehicle in production. The team develops engineering solutions that fulfill attribute properties such as Design, Crash, NVH and Strength/Durability while fulfilling manufacturing process demands within set cost and time frames.

As a Design Engineer it is important that you are passionate in developing premium car bodies in an international environment together with internal and global suppliers. You and the team are responsible to deliver documentation to secure that legal and Volvo Car Group requirements is fulfilled. You will have to build and maintain a network with expertise across the company to secure correct status in the many aspects of a car environment.

Main responsibilities

* Perform design work
* Contact with CAE, other R&D members and manufacturing to agree of required progress
* Collaborate with all interfacing systems and attributes to assure the final result
* Initiate and support system development
* Lead minor tasks and/or supporting task leaders in major tasks
* Lead and participate in specification reviews to assure good quality
* Support concept and project leaders in evaluation of solutions quality assurance and balancing of conflicting requirements

Required qualifications

* Technical education at university level or equivalent experience
* Engineering experience in Catia V5
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
* Engineering experience in sheet metal design is meritorious

* Thorough, independent and passionate, actively driving your work guided by customer focus and common objectives, not detailed instructions
* Desire and ability to contribute in the work to develop both the team and the work processes
