Who we are 
Propulsion Transmission Systems design is responsible for electric transmission, automatic gearboxes, driveline and AWD system within Volvo Cars. We lead the development within our area in Hybrid, BEV as well as ICE powertrains. The department is working with in-house design and manufacturing of EFAD (Electric Front Axle Drive) and ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive) in the MEP program (Modular Electric Platform) for our Electric & Hybrid vehicles where we are responsible for the whole development chain of design, CAE and physical verification.

The Electric Transmission Design group within the department is responsible for design and development of gearbox internal parts for Electric and Hybrid vehicles. We are now looking for a Design Engineer with a solid background from automotive engineering. You will be part of a small team including a technical specialist creating prerequisites for component design and supporting the team with analysis before and after tests. 

What you´ll do
•    Responsible for a build to print supplier regarding Time, Technical content and Cost.
•    Support all development programs and running production by working with suppliers in all component related issues.
•    Evaluate together with the team component specifications from both suppliers and internally designed.
•    Analyze test results from external and internal testing.
•    Communicate and structure the work within the design team at Volvo and chosen supplier.

You and your skills
We believe You have experience of leading a design task and are comfortable with supplier interface and have at least 5 years experience of design/create solutions within automotive industry. You have an analytical mindset and is comfortable using analytical tools.
You have a genuine interest in cars and automotive industry in general, if you possess knowledge specifically in transmissions or gear manufacturing that would be an advantage. You have demonstrated high level of communication skills and teamwork.
It is required to have previous experience working with suppliers and manufacturing. Previous experience with Volvo Cars processes. Fluency in English and driving license “B” is however mandatory qualification. 

Personal qualities
We believe you are passionate about cars, both from a customer and technical point of view. You have a high level of engagement and you tend to work with confidence and independency. It is crucial to be good at cross-functional work and networking, as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will be part of you daily work, hence you need to possess great communication and cooperation skills.  

Moreover, you need to be structured, organized and planned, with leading and organizational skills, in order to lead and guide the component development efficiently in expected direction.
