What it's like working with us
You will be part of an entrepreneurial scale-up in a flat, coaching and knowledge driven culture with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. You will play a key role in leading Alight’s Onsite- / Behind-the-Meter (BtM) business, engineering solar-as-a-service solutions to large multinational companies with commercial- and industrial sites across Europe.
Through comprehensive onboarding and continuous training, you will lead the sales development engineering in solar energy projects from an early stage feasibility assessment and indicative offers through competitive RFP processes to win supplier decisions, conduct site visits and develop final solutions and business cases. As a Development Engineer you will be part of the engineering team and will be:
Managing the techno-economic workstream optimising the BtM solution for our customers from indicative solution to final design through sales projects - working closely with our Client Executives
Assessing available areas on roof, ground and parking spaces for onsite solar
Dimensioning and designing the optimal configuration based on customer load profile and savings potential
Simulating solar production and system installation and lifetime operational costs
Working with our financial models supported by our structuring team to set the PPA price
Iterating and optimising the solution through the sales process with the objective to maximise customer savings and energy output
Managing the involvement of other internal and external resources (e.g. from the Site Development, Procurement & Construction and Asset Management teams) and consultants (e.g. Electrical Engineering experts, Local site development and permitting experts and EPCs) needed to engineer, sell and deliver a winning solution
Securing high quality engineering deliverables to sales meetings and proposals and present Alight as a solar engineering leader with aligned incentives with our customers in terms of optimising quality, cost and long term impact.



Who you are
To succeed in this role, we believe that you have experience from the energy sector for example from engineering consulting or other leading onsite BtM solar solution providers and have a solid understanding of solar projects and its diverse engineering aspects.
You have 4+ years of working experience as an Engineer in solar projects
You have an Engineering degree (Bachelor or Master)
You are fluent in English and one of the European languages (French, German, Polish, Spanish or Swedish)
You have a drive to successfully inspire and challenge others
You have strong analytical and modelling skills
You have experience from leading solar engineering software tools
You are a team player who see the intrinsic value in kind acts towards others
