We are now looking for an experienced material development engineer who will participate and lead material development and range optimization activities within Range & Category Plastics (Raw Materials).
What does this position mean?
The Material Development Engineer (MDE) is responsible for the development of the running range of plastic materials to secure long term competitiveness. The MDE will also contribute to and lead material development projects in co-operation with the ?Material and Innovation Group? and according to the material strategy. In addition the MDE works tightly with team members, selected Categories and Home Furnishing Business Areas offering them a very high level of business competence and service for the whole plastic raw material range and contributes in securing that we provide the right products and materials (IKEA requirement fulfilled), in the right time to the right price.
Assignment:
? Continuous improvement of running range of plastic materials to secure ?better product at lower cost?.
? Work with standardization and material specifications.
? Create, approve, distribute and update technical documentation.
? Support internally within IKEA and at the IKEA supplier in technical matters.
? Actively monitor and bring in new knowledge about technology and industry development.
? Participate in developing shared solutions and platforms for plastic raw material.
? Support Home Furnishing Business Areas with material expertise for improved product development and initiate product improvement through material-design-tool optimisation.
Is this the right challenge for you?
To be able to succeed in this position you have relevant education and experience giving you very good knowledge and understanding of material and range development, the production processes, cost drivers and material characteristics/performance.
You have the ability to lead and contribute to strategic development and to develop good technical documentation. We also believe that you have a background in the plastic raw material industry. Recycled plastics and plastics from renewable sources are of strategic importance for IKEA so if you have experience from these materials specifically we welcome your application.
As a person you have a strong drive and a clear goal focus and you work in a structured and organised way securing clear documentation of your work. You are decisive and have an ability to communicate in a clear and structured way to build strong internal and external relations. You have good communicating skills, the ability to work closely with others and you share the IKEA basic values.
