An exciting opportunity has arisen as Development engineer in our Propulsion & Engines division at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn. You will be part of a competent team of experts working with development of our propeller systems. We are looking for an experienced engineer in the mechanical field with a strong technical and engineering background who can work goal-focused, independently making decisions and take responsibility for your actions. You will be part of our Product Management Propeller & Reduction Gear department, working with development and maintaining market leading world class propulsion solution. Our products consist of propellers, shaft lines and reduction gears for all types of vessels, including polar research, naval and cruise ships. Our propellers vary in sizes from 1,5 – 10 m in diameter and we have delivered our high-performance propellers for over 80 years, starting with the well-renowned KAMEWA-propeller.
Key accountabilities
As Development engineer, you get the chance to further develop and deliver the best propellers in the world. You will be included in all stages of the product development of our complex propulsion systems, from first drawings to the final test run. Your position is characterized by working cross-functionally with colleagues from other departments in our global organization, as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
In this position, you act as a specialist when it comes to complex mechanical issues, but also regarding hydraulic and numerical inquiries. Among other tasks, you will get to work with conceptual studies, detailed constructions, and investigations. Travel is included as part of your position, sometimes with short notice and with destinations almost anywhere in the world – on dry land, in dry dock or onboard a sailing vessel. You should therefore be comfortable with having travel as part of your work.
Qualifications and experience
M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering
Previous work experience characterized by some years of product development of complex mechanical systems
High level of English, both written and oral
You are able to
