Arbetsbeskrivning

Development engineer within catalysts and filters performance in exhaust aftertreatment systems

Scania is a world-leading provider of transport solutions. Together with our partners and customers, we are driving the shift towards a sustainable transport system. Sustainability at Scania is also about having a healthy workplace with diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for women and men.

The Catalyst and Filter Performance group is a part of the Emission Solutions Development department. We are contributing to sustainable transport solutions by providing expertise regarding the performance of catalysts and particulate filters. To this group, we are now looking for a development engineer. We offer a position in a dynamic work environment with many opportunities to influence the future.

Your role

As a development engineer, you will work with the performance requirements of our catalysts and particulate filters such as evaluation, optimization, calibration of the current systems or selecting future catalytic concepts.

The testing is mainly performed in engine test cells, but also in rigs, trucks, and buses. The work is an iterative and dynamic process where many variables must be optimized simultaneously. The work may include contact with academia as we currently have two industrial Ph.D. students in the group.

The position also includes frequent communication and cooperation. You will take part in cross-functional teams to optimize the aftertreatment system with regards to all product properties such as performance requirements, acoustic, weight, and cost. You will work close to both simulation and design engineers and together perform development iterations as well as plan the testing and validation of your product.

Your profile

In-depth knowledge of combustion chemistry, emissions, and the aftertreatment system are required. For example, you have a Ph.D. degree in catalytic combustion or similar. A relevant master’s degree combined with working experience within catalytic combustion is also of interest.

Experience in the automotive after-treatment system is an advantage, as well as experience in running engine tests, parameter calibration, and knowledge in Inca, Vision, or similar software.

You are a fast learner, flexible, innovative, and can work independently in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. You have good communication skills and knowledge in written and spoken English and can communicate your technical results within your team and to others. You are committed, curious and have the ability and will to both come up with new ideas and achieve results. You like working with others and are driven by an inspiring and creative climate with many talented colleagues around you.

This position is based in Södertälje and you will be a part of a supportive team.
