Albany International is a global advanced textiles and materials processing company with two core businesses. The Machine Clothing (MC) segment is the world’s leading producer of custom-designed fabrics and belts essential to production in the paper, nonwovens, and other process industries.
Albany International AB, in Halmstad, Sweden, is currently looking to add a Professional Engineer to the R&D team. As a member of the Product Engineering group, the Development Engineer will work both individually, and as part of a team, to bring new and innovative product designs to the Paper Industry. Proficiency in English is required as the position is part of a broader R&D organization collaborating in Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States
Main tasks
Your skills will be used to develop products from the initial stages of materials, design, and supply, straight through prototyping, testing, and field validation. The successful candidate will have base line skills, with a strong desire to expand their capabilities in the areas of:
- Polymeric materials, fibers, filaments and coatings
- Textile processing methods including weaving and felt production
- Design of Experiments, analytical lab and field simulation testing
Some travel is required for research, as well as supplier and customer visits.
Background and experience
The position requires that you have a bachelor degree in Textile- or Mechanical engineering. Further it's positive if you have some years of experience from the paper industry. You should be fluent in English and Swedish, both verbal and in writing.

To be successful in the position you should be self-driven and have a positive approach. Further you should have the ability to engage people and communicate in a positive manner with both internal and external stakeholders. You should also be able to structure and organize your work and communicate technical matters in a successful way. The position requires that you have business understanding as well as a broad technical knowledge.
