Development Engineer – Corrosion/Inorganic Surface Treatment
We are seeking an expert with a focus on corrosion and inorganic surface treatment.
About the team
The team currently consists of 3 people with responsibility in various areas linked to painting and surface treatment and corrosion on our vehicles. The group also has expertise in polymer and rubber materials and in total we are 11 individuals who form a diversified and well-knit group.


Your Responsibilities
As a key contributor to Scania's R&D team, you will drive the development work in the field of surface treatment. Leveraging a deep understanding of international research, you will tackle complex challenges from a holistic perspective. Initiating and leading surface treatment projects for next-generation products will be a natural part of your role.


As a development engineer specializing in material technology, you will need:
Knowledge of materials used in the field
Familiarity with relevant testing procedures
Responsibility for standards within the domain
Daily support for material technology-related inquiries
Steering the strategy for surface treatment issues from a material technology perspective
Driving external projects in the field through collaboration with academia and institutes



Your profile
You hold a Ph.D. in the subject or possess equivalent experiences, demonstrating an ability to handle complex issues and convey knowledge in a pedagogical manner, often in a mentorship role. With practical experience and extensive expertise in your field, you can independently drive complicated matters, investigation, and represent Scania both nationally and internationally.


Initiative, collaboration, and effective knowledge transfer are crucial attributes. You are responsible for cultivating and developing customer relationships. Supported by colleagues in the field, you will engage in idea exchange to further enrich your work.


In addition to conducting material technological investigation in our state-of-the-art laboratories, where knowledge of relevant testing methods and analytical techniques is vital, you will actively contribute to improvement initiatives, challenge existing practices, and discover new approaches. Creativity is highly valued throughout our work, and with our holistic perspective and diverse range of competencies, we aim to equip Scania with innovation for tomorrow's trucks.
