The R&D Functional Product department is responsible for development and implementation of virtual machining tools supporting Sandvik Coromant's application centers located in market areas America, Europe and Asia. The core competence areas are virtual machining tools, CAM methods and processes, machining process optimization, machining process monitoring, and development of embedded systems. We are now expanding our competence within mechatronics to support our coming challenges within cutting tools and machining processes.

Key performance areas
The work is conducted in a global network of specialists and in key markets, in order to understand customer needs and develop customer value. Your main responsibilities include:
- Modeling, simulation and visualization of dynamic systems and controls
- Development of algorithms for control of mechanical devices and machines, signal analysis, diagnostics and process monitoring, and user interfaces
- Software development for embedded systems
- Design of sensor integrated devices, wireless communication, and programming
- Ensuring product reliability, security, robustness, and troubleshooting
- Building, developing and maintaining relationships with OEM, research partners, universities and research institutes

The position involves traveling.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a MSc. or Ph.D within mechatronics, electronics, or software engineering with a minimum of 2 years industrial/academic research experience relevant to performance areas. Good technical understanding of metal cutting and manufacturing, as well as ability to communicate with colleagues in Swedish, is preferred. The position involves international contacts and traveling, and therefore, good skills in English, both spoken and written, are required.
