Job Summary
Packaging material design is a key area within Tetra Pak. At the department of Materials Solutions in Tetra Pak’s Development & Technology organization we design packaging materials for our customers’ current and future needs. Identifying and defining key material properties and defining the architecture for future packaging material are the core tasks of future material developments.
As our new Development Engineer, you will focus on and work closely in our university collaborations and you will be part of a team of material specialists working in Materials Solutions. After some years’ experience and scientific work, we see you grow into the role as material specialist.
You are interested in spending some years in university environment, have an ambition to do an industrial PhD driving Tetra Pak questions in your research field internally, but also externally together with universities, institutes, and collaboration partners. You will be responsible for creating technical knowledge by quiring deep understanding in areas related to sustainable packaging materials. You are expected to propose and promote your ideas within Tetra Pak, while driving scientific area development both internally and externally.
This position is in Lund, but you will work in a global arena. Some travelling is required.
What you will do
Driving scientific knowledge building together with universities,
possible as an industrial PhD
Driving development of new sustainable packaging materials understanding and creating packaging material solutions
Leading technical studies and building knowledge by collaborating internally and externally
Finding facts and opportunities, solving problems, and writing technical reports, independently as well as together with a technical team
Communicating, internally and externally, share plans, progress and results for your activities and competence area, in writing as well as orally

We believe you have
You have a Master of Science in Engineering related to the fields of material physics, chemistry, nanoscience, or an associated field. Or you have a Master’s degree in physics or materials science, or an associated field. A very good command of English, both written and spoken, is an absolute must. (For applicants whose previous studies were conducted at a university where English was not the spoken language, evidence of English proficiency is requested (for example, TOEFL / IELTS results, or similar)).
Experiences from relevant areas of physics, electronics, solid state/semiconductor physics and nanofabrication are of special value. The ability for skilful laboratory work is essential and demonstrated experience will be considered a merit.
Work experience, from packaging, converting or material development, or polymer chemistry industry will be seen as beneficial as well as other experience in material development, material characterization and food safety - both theoretically and practically.
