Development engineer - Simulation of ICE gas exchange performance

Development engineer - Simulation of ICE gas exchange performance

Arbetsbeskrivning

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.Scania's internal combustion engine development is an important contributor to meeting our high standards of sustainability and science-based targets. E.g. low fuel economy is very important and here we are an important contributor in keeping Scania as the world leader.

Our section is responsible for the gas exchange system performance from the air intake to the exhaust outlet. We are also responsible to ensure that the installation of the engine in various brand chassis fulfills the necessary requirements for the engine gas exchange system. Our group works within all the project phases from research and concept development to industrialization and field quality. We have property responsibility for performance and coordinate the section group activities in the concept development phase.

We are a strong team with people with various backgrounds and experiences, where development and property balancing is our common ground. Our group is characterized by an including, positive and helpful attitude. In our group, you will have the possibility to work with new solutions with great impact on customer satisfaction and the environment. You will have the opportunity to affect strategies in concept development in an exciting and dynamic organization with good opportunities for personal development.

Does it sound interesting? Then we believe that the work as a development engineer in our group might be right for you!

Tasks

The main task is to support the engine development projects with expertise within the area of gas exchange performance, take part in performance groups, develop our simulation methods and models and contribute to our journey towards a lean agile work environment. You will work in an interactive, cross-functional environment with other groups within e.g. control system, exhaust after-treatment, and engine calibration. The group also takes part in vehicle testing in environments outside normal conditions e.g. summer tests at high altitudes.

Our primary tool for simulations is GT-power, where complete engine systems are modeled and evaluated against tests, road cycles, and various applications. The simulation-based way of working allows for system studies in the early phases before hardware is available.

Your profile

We are looking for a person that is communicative, initiative, and a structured problem solver that sees opportunities. You have a positive attitude, connect easily and appreciate both working within a team and on your own. We want you to:

• be interested in simulation-driven development and have experience in engine performance
• have a master's degree in mechanical engineering
• be fluent in English, Swedish is a merit
