Akzo Nobel Industrial Coatings is a leading manufacturer of paints and coatings for industrial surface finishing. We provide beauty and protection to wood products such as windows, doors, cabinet, floors and furniture's. In Sweden we have approximately 300 employees at our office and production site in Sege/Malmö.

The Colour Team within Wood Coatings is responsible for ownership of technology platforms and large development projects. The working group holds the responsibility for development of colour matching in different technologies and stain development, this done in close cooperation with our Colour lab in Germany.

We now have 1 opening for the position as Development Engineer to join our Colour Group within the segment of colour matching in translucent as opaque systems. Are you ready to make an impact of our business and add value to our customers? Then you should apply for this position.

The position is a permanent employment effective immediately and you will be reporting to the Manager in RD&I Colour Group.


Main responsibilities

- Colour matching

- Technical support to customers, Sales technicians, Production and Suppliers in both Sweden and rest of Europe.

- Communicate and update system in relation to changes to internal and external Stakeholders.

The role involves discussing project needs, setting up, planning and executing experiments, analysis and formulations work. You will be part of and lead small or medium sized projects. The role includes travelling and you will spend some of your time visiting customers throughout Europe associated with customer related projects.

The daily work is taking place in both the laboratory and in the Technical Application Center where full scale application machinery is used to simulate customer processes. We work according to lab standard 14 (incl. ISO 9001, 14001) and according to 5S standard.


Job requirements

To be successful in this position you should have an educational background within chemistry or 5-7 years of work experience within the field of colour matching.

As a person you should have a high focus on quality and be used to work with deadlines. You are highly customer focused, able to work independently and enjoy environments which can be hectic and pressured. The role requires a high level of colour vision. You are a good communicator, verbal as written in both the Swedish and English language.

You have a strong ability to cooperate within teams and willing to share your knowledge and experience with others. You are used to work in an international environment, adaptable to cultural changes. You are a skilled user of modern IT systems.


Additional information

This is a permanent position on a full time basis, reporting to the ColourGroup Manager. The position is placed on our site in Sege, Malmö.
