About the Role
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. Do you want to contribute to this journey and have an interest in the future driver environment, Human/Machine Interface and team work?
Then you are welcome to the bus driver area and sensor installation group.
We lead the development of the Driver area in Scania´s bus program. We aim to give the driver the best possible working environment; best comfort, best functions and the best safety. Our responsibilities are mainly in two areas, both connected to the driver. We develop the driver station (instrument panels, pedals, steering columns, switches) as well as installing the safety systems (e.g. sensors for driver assistance systems and autonomous driving). Our solutions are adapted for Scania´s bus program but also for external international bus body builders.
In Bus development we are proud to contribute to a sustainable transportation system. We have short decision paths and a big focus on personal development and career plans. Our tasks have a big span and covers many different areas. We support and teach each other. And most of all, we have fun!
Your Tasks
Depending on the projects you will be involved in, you can end up working on either development of the drivers area or sensor installation:
Drivers area
You will develop the next generation driver area to meet future driver and bus operators demands. Together with other team members, you will participate in early concept phases and all the way into the industrialization phase.
Typical objectives can be: setting ergonomic demands, 3D packing in CAD, evaluation of solutions, suggesting the way forward and develop parts in 3D/2D environment.
Sensor installation
You will install sensors (e.g. radars, cameras, lidars) on different positions on the bus. It is done in close cooperation with system owners who is responsible for the sensor itself. You will participate from early concept phase into industrialization phase.
Typical objectives can be: to investigate the bus specific demands and assisting the sensor owner to specify the sensor´s needed performance. Later in the project you will design different concepts of the installation and suggesting the way forward. The parts are developed in 3D/2D environment.
Your contact network will be large and include industrial design, ergonomic, function/system owners, suppliers, purchase and production. You have to be prepared to travel in order to meet our bus body builders, since their build process and demands are significant for a well-functioning driver area.
We have a close cooperation with our bus colleagues within TRATON and often meet them in our common projects.
Your Profile
You are an M.Sc. or B.Sc. engineer, with specialization in mechanical engineering/product design development. You have some years of experience within designing parts in plastic (injection molding and vacuum forming process). You have good skills in Catia v5 or similar system.
Your personal skills are:
• Team player more than individualist
• Creative and solution orientated
• Communicative
• Delivery focused
• Proactive mindset
• Flexible and pragmatic mindset for handling deviations
• You understand the need of improvement work of our processes/products and want to contribute. It is a plus if you have an interest and/or experience in ergonomic and driver environment.
