Customized solutions for trucks are an important and growing area where Scania aims to fulfill specific customers’ demands and enter new segments and markets.
The section RSM is responsible for the development of customized trucks in areas from alternative fuels and electrification to specialized applications such as mining, heavy haulage, and fire trucks. Everything we do starts with a direct customer request.

About the group
Our group, RSML, is responsible for delivering customized solutions in close collaboration with our special vehicles unit in Laxå. This allows you to be part of a team that delivers unique customer solutions with a lot of creativity and the mindset for possibilities such as a low-entry truck with a bus door, electrified trucks and e-highway solutions, trucks with unique axle configurations, and other unique configurations and specifications that our customers request.
Your assignment
As a designer at customized truck development, you are not only developing a small part of the truck, you are building the whole truck to fulfill certain customer demands. You are using the Scania structure and the modular system in creative ways to fulfill the demands.
The extent of the tasks you will handle can vary from known adaptations where you can process several per day to new adaptations that require deeper and longer investigations. You will also be part of tight-working project teams. The spread in scope and complexity creates great possibilities for you to develop your competence.
You will also be able to travel to Laxå to be hands-on with the products that we are responsible for, seeing and learning more about our products and processes.
One of our key deliveries is to meet customer demand quickly. our scalable development process is therefore designed with a focus on time to market, without risking the quality and/or causing deviations in production.
Your Profile
You are a person that takes initiative, dares to take risks in a structured way, enjoys learning new things, and likes to work with varying tasks that may shift quickly. You see the opportunities in given tasks and challenges. You are good at creating team spirit and have the ability to share experiences and information with your colleagues in a generous way. The work is both individual and collaborative which demands skills in communication and cooperation. One of our key deliveries is to meet customer demand quickly, therefore you need to be comfortable working with sharp deadlines at a high pace.
You are a graduate engineer (or similar) and have experience from R&D. Either you are at the beginning of your Scania career or a more senior employee, we will have challenges for you. You are interested in seeing the broader picture and when needed digging into the details. Knowledge about our Scania products, the modular system, Catia V5, and the knowledge to set terms and conditions for vehicles in our structural system is highly meriting.
