Within Materials Technology you will be able to work both theoretical and practical, where the law of physics  and chemistry sets the boundaries and you explore them. You will be part of the electrification group within Materials technology R&D.

The group consist currently of eight experienced development engineers, which task is to supply Scania with technical expertise on materials for electrification.

Your main tasks

As a development engineer within our department you will work with technical material issues within the electrical drive train in all parts of the product development. It can for example be about issues regarding aging in power modules, or the effect of fast switching on insolation systems. Other important questions are design and construction of inverters.

You will in your role as development engineer perform technical material investigations where knowledge about relevant analytic methods is fundamental. There will likely also be some lab work including setting up new test methods. 

Materials technology are actively involved early in Scania’s product development projects to make smart selection of materials, and then through the whole development process all the way to finished product to support with expertise.

In your role you will have the opportunity to dive deeper into your field by initiate and lead research project together with external partners, where it is important to understand future demands and to be an experienced project manager.

Your Profile

We are looking for you that want to work with power electronic components from a material perspective. You have a PhD/MSc with experience from power electronics and their materials.

It is meritious with knowledge about DC/DC, AC/DC and DC/AC inverters for heavy vehicles. It is also a merit with experience from research projects with participants form industry and Universities.

You are dedicated, curious, interested and driven to develop new ideas and deliver results. You thrive working in teams and are inspired by a creative climate surrounded by highly competent colleagues. You are customer oriented and  outwardly can represent Materials Technology internally at Scania and externally towards Universities, institutes and companies in project collaborations.
