Arbetsbeskrivning
For the last 20 years, Scania has partnered with Cummins Engine Company in a joint venture to develop and manufacture common rail fuel systems. Today this fuel system, known as XPI, is used extensively on both Scania and Cummins engine platforms. The main product development site for the high-pressure pump and fuel injectors used in the XPI system is located at Cummins Fuel Systems in Columbus, USA and since 2017 a product development and product support office has been established here at Scania in Södertälje to allow for a closer cooperation with current and future European customers and suppliers. Being located at Scania has further developed our collaboration with the Scania R&D organization, allowing us to jointly develop and tailor future fuel systems for customers within the Traton organization.
The Södertälje office has grown both in personnel and capability over the last few years and we are now roughly 30 employees, working in 4 separate groups. As we continue to grow, we now have an excellent opportunity to add a development engineer to the design and development team (DIXV). The team consists of five highly motivated engineers who operate with a large degree of autonomy and have responsibility for an exciting portfolio of development projects.
Your role
As a development engineer within the design and development group you are responsible for development and verification of mainly fuel pumps, but to a certain extent also injectors, in close cooperation with your colleagues in the USA. You will drive component development, coordinate with suppliers for prototype orders and deliveries, and assist with test planning and analysis. You will also support the assembly plant and aftermarket with product knowledge when implementing new products in production. You will establish a working relationship with your peers within the global Cummins and Scania fuel systems organisations, formulating product development plans that allow us to best utilize our resources. The role also involves some travel to our colleagues in the USA and to suppliers within Europe.
Your profile
We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with a genuine interest in technology and product development. The ideal candidate would have experience in technical development, and a good understanding of mechanical design. Prior experience from fuel system development and/or precision machining is an advantage. Since we work in a truly global environment with daily contact and collaboration with colleagues in the USA and with suppliers and other Cummins teams located worldwide, excellent English communication skills are required.
We offer
The opportunity to be part of a unique collaboration within a global organization where we focus on teamwork and our people to develop world class products for our customers within Traton and Cummins. We offer an open climate, where everyone’s contribution is appreciated and encouraged. Even though we are a relatively small organisation we have a lot of experience and wide-reaching responsibilities. We have substantial freedom and autonomy to decide how we get things done and are committed to delivering excellence in everything we do.
