Smoltek is developing process technology and concepts for applications based on carbon nanotechnology to solve advanced materials engineering problems of the future. By pioneering carbon nanotechnology, we are literally pushing the limits of what is possible in the semiconductor industry. We have developed a technology platform that enables us to exploit the extraordinary properties of carbon nanofiber (CNFs) to build capacitors with high capacitance density and superior electrical performance.



What will you be doing:

In the R&D team we are committed to deliver superior electrical performance with our ultrathin capacitor by building on the extraordinary opportunities provided by our unique technology. To further strengthen our efforts, we are now looking for a design engineer to join our Capacitor Design team. As a member of this team you will contribute to the efforts making sure our capacitors will meet the demanding electrical requirements expected by the market.

- You will work closely with Smoltek’s Microfabrication team and take the lead in designing, modelling, and characterizing our ultra-thin capacitors. You are expected to develop a deep understanding of the electrical characteristics of the capacitor and be able to connect those characteristics to the internal device structure.

- You will participate in analytical modelling as well as finite element simulations. You are also expected to develop characterization methodologies and to oversee DC and RF measurements. You will report to the CTO and head of R&D.

What are your key responsibilities:

Develop standardized methodologies to extract key performance indicators from the measurements

- Derive electrical models to describe the observed characteristics.

- Contribute to finite element electrical simulation activities

- Be responsible for RF and DC characterization setups

- Guide and oversee the measurements in the lab

- Participate and drive discussions in connecting process parameters to performance parameters

- Contribute actively to Smoltek’s IP portfolio

Who are you:

For us this means you are a good listener, communicator and have easy to connect to other people. We also believe that key competencies for this role is structure and perseverance in combination with a positive make it happen attitude. You are expected to be fluent in spoken and written English.



Other important competencies for the position:

- MSc or PhD in Electrical engineering or engineering physics

- Solid experience in semiconductor device characterization both at lab scale as well mass production

- Knowledge in solid state physics and electronics

- Hands on experience with RF and DC characterization setups

- Solid knowledge in modelling electronic circuits with emphasis on passive components

- Previous exposure to carbon nanotechnology such as CNT, CNF, and graphene is a big plus

- Interest in and aptitude for working with everything from technical details to broader system issues.

- Be willing to travel domestically and internationally to meet suppliers and customers
